Nothing is better than research. If you have a good credit rating you have more choices than some other people. Things change often so make sure your research is current. Be very careful of anything put fixed rates and be very careful that all closing costs are clearly spelled out.

You have to compare, you can even get ripped off by your own bank where you have done business for 20+ years. Also, go to reputable sites on the internet. Don't let bankers, others tell you that you shouldn't. And ask for a written estimate, with all charges listed. Ask about any thing you aren't sure of. Do you know what a point is? The fewer years you can go the better. More years = a lot more interest. Good Luck.
